I used the papers from the Witching Hour Kit, and the rest is all from my huge stash!!!!!

I found the Tic Tac Toe board at Walmart on clearance.

Halloween Candy Tags, Goodie Bag Tags

As you can tell I LOVE Halloween! It's such a fun holiday to decorate and create. I always try to do something fun for the classroom so I created these personalized tags to make goodie bags with. You can also attach candy directly to the tags and hand them out!

I created the tags using my photoshop software. They are approximately 2.5 x 3.5 inches. I printed at my local print shope, then cut each tag out using my paper trimmer. I bought the mini lunch bags from Michaels and if you use your 50% off coupon, you can get 16 bags for 1.50! I adhered the tags to the bags with a strong scrapbook adhesive. To create the candy holders, I just used my circle punch (square also works) and punched two holes, one on top and one on bottom, and slipped the pixie stick right in! That's it.. I have recently added these items to my store, come by and take a peak! They are pesonalized with your child's name, I have created a boy and a girl set! Halloween Cone Decoration or Garland

To Create the cones:

1. Adhere two sheets of paper together approx 8 1/2 x 8 and lay in a diamond
2. Roll the paper into a cone and stick together with double-sided tape
3. Cut off the triangle portion at the top of the cone to create a circle
5. For the top, gather tulle and glue to cone (hot glue works best)
6. Adhere ribbon to the center of the tulle and use hot glue to adhere
7. Cut and glue an 8" piece of ribbon to the inside of each cone in order for it to hang
8. Decorate with Glitter Chipboard, buttons, embellishment, lace, or whatever you like!
9. Hang individually, fill with candy or connect cones with ribbon to create a Halloween Garland

Baby Keepsake Jar

It's Craft Tuesday at What's Scrapping and I'd like to share this Baby Keepsake Jar with you. Create this special gift for the mommy to be.

I bought this jar at my local craft store. I created each tag in the computer. I used a dainty, pink damask paper as the background with black and white accents. Scallop tags were cut with a 2" scallop punch and hooked onto a ring. The tags inlcuded titles like: First bath, First smile, First steps, etc. where mommy can write the date on the back of each tag. I also created 12 square memory tags that are pre-printed with the following wording: 1-12 months, weight and length. All mommy needs to do is simply jot down baby's information for that month. I also included a special tin for to save a lock of baby's hair (a small vellum envelope fits perfect inside the tin to seal baby's hair). I created mini tags using a 2"x3" tag punch. They are blank which allows mommy to write down special memories of baby. You can be as creative as you want, even personalize it to baby's theme. I decided to make a canvas for my son's room......and I used some of October Afternoon's Rocket Age line.....such a cute and fun line.......

I'm loving the way it turned out....minus a few bubbles here and there! Thanks for letting me share with you today!

Burlap Wreath

Hi its Crafty Tuesday at What's Scrappin with a DIY Burlap Wreath to enhance your door. These is the easiest and cheapest way to spruce up your front door, you can create one for every season and holiday.

Supplies:
Styrofoam wreath
3 yards of burlap ribbon
paper flowers
text papers
vintage buttons
hot glue gun
home tag
pearl pin
ink

How to:
To began, hot glue the end of the ribbon to the wreath and then begin wrapping it. Carefully wrap the ribbon around the foam, slightly overlap each "layer" so you can not see the foam wreath. Hot glue the last piece of ribbon to the back of the wreath. Now the fun part, began decorating. I used my MS butterfly punch from old text paper to create 7 butterflies and inked the edges. I used a dab Crafter's Pick glue to hold them in place. I inked the edges of a 7 gypsies HOME tag, and attach a pearl pin before gluing it down. Then I arranged the 6 paper flowers above and around the tag adhered them with a glue gun. I added a couple vintage buttons as the center for the flowers. You can atttach a small piece of ribbon (with glue gun) to the back of the wreath in order for it to hang on the door. You can create your design and change it up for the seasons! Enjoy.... Good morning What's Scrapping!

It's Jessica here popping in for some new wall art......

I made this canvas for my daughter using the Out of Print Kit and Add-On from Scraptastic Club. This one was super easy.

First I attached my background patterned paper with Glossy Mod Podge (this canvas is a 12x12). When it was dry, I sanded down all of the edges and then applied a top coat of Mod Podge. For the word "dream" I used my "Shapes" Cricut Cartridge and cut out the shadow of the word at 4", I then cut out the regular word at 3.8" (each one was done with a different patterned paper). I attached each layer of the word with my Mod Podge. I then added the butterflies, the "imagine you" title sticker and the rest of the alphas with Mod Podge. When it was dry I applied one last top coat over the whole thing, and when that was dry, I outlined everything, except the alphas, with a black sharpie.

That's it......see easy peasy!!!

Back To School Supply Cake

It's Crafty Tuesday at What's Scrapping. Recently, I have seen a few Back to School Supply Cakes on the internet and wanted to share my version with you. I cannot believe school started yesterday, the summer really flew by! My son began second grade and with all the recent budget cuts, the schools are relying on the parents to donate supplies. I decided to donate a little extra in a festive way. This entire cake only cost me around $20.00!

Here is the breakdown for cost and supplies:
1 set of round nesting boxes (9.99, used a 50% off coupon = $4.50)
10 boxes of Crayola crayons ($4.00)
9 two pack Elmers school glue sticks ($3.60)
8 bottles of Elmers liquid school glue ($3.20)
woodens star and rectangle (1.00)
1 box kleenex (1.00)
red and black paint (2.00)
Supplies from home: glue gun, ribbon, 3 mini binder clips, one sheet ABC scrapbook paper

How to:
First, I painted the edges of the largest lid red. Second, I stacked the lid, the second largest box, and the smallest box together. Use your glue gun to keep all of them in place. Third, I added the crayons and placed a rubber band to hold them in place. You can glue them down but I wanted the boxes to come off easily so I did NOT glue them, the rubber band held them in place. For the next tier, I added the glue sticks and again used a rubber band to hold them together. On the top tier, I covered a kleenex box with one sheet of ABC paper. I glued the box to the center and then added the Elmers glue bottles around the Kleenex box and held them with a rubber band. Each tier was then covered with a red ribbon, a mini binder clip and a small accent of black and white polka dot ribbon for fun. I used black paint to cover the rectangle square and let it dry. Finally, I glued the yellow star and blackboard to bamboo skewers and wrote the teacher's name and grade. I placed them on top as decorative accents. Tallyscrapper CROP PaRtY!!!

Alright ladies & gents we haven't had one in awhile so I think its about time we have another fun filled weekend getting our scrap on August 13-14th! Some of the games will start Friday so keep your eye out for that, and most of the challenges will last til Sunday the 21st for those who are unable to attend.

So Make sure you have your pictures, glue, paper, alpha's, embellishments, inks, stamps ,punches what ever else you need and of course a cold one!! Lock yoursefl in your room, corner, table whatever you have and put your DO NOT DISTURB sign up!

There are some fun games a new one that I am super excited to play for the first time! It will be hosted by our wondeful Tally Sister Leah!! its going to start on Friday so keep your eyes open for it! we will also be playing BINGO I will post the words up on Tallyscrappers.com on Tuesday am!! among a whole bunch of other games being hosted by your wonderful TallysScrapper DT!

And of course there will be PRIZES!!!!

Sunday Wall Art 8/7/11

Good morning What's Scrapping!

It's Jessica here with some new wall art. A long time ago I posted the name plaque that I made for my daughter.....well don't you know as soon as I made hers, my son was asking where his was. I've had the supplies for about a month (I know I'm bad) and I finally worked on it yesterday. So here it is:

I still have to add the clips in the back and I'm still trying to figure out what kind of ribbon I want to hang it on the wall with!

This one's real easy. I picked up the letters and the plaque at Michaels. I used some left over papers from the Surf's Up kit. First I traced all of the letters onto the backs of the papers that I wanted to use and then cut them out. I adhered the papers to the wood letters with Mod Podge. When it was dry, I painted the sides of the letters and the plaque with some blue acrylic paint. (I did 3 coats of paint on the plaque.) When all the paint was dry, I attached the wood letters to the plaque with Mod Podge. I then applied my top coat over the whole thing with Mod Podge.

And that's it! Easy Peasy!

When Julie asked me to contribute to today's blog, it just made my day! I hope that you'll find what I have to show you inspiring and you'll want to try it for yourself!

I saw a sketch done by Liz Chidester over at Birds Of A Feather and for some reason immediately thought how kewl it would be to have a background picture in place of the background paper. The boys were on a deer outing so I was not distracted by the usual cry's of "What are we eating", or "When are we going to eat?" and started playing with this picture.

It wasn't long before I had it turned into a B& W printed transparency that looked like this:

I used PSE 8.0 but you could use what ever photo editing software that you have. I did up the contrast till the black was nice and black. I used the transparency sheets that have the rough on one side. You'll want to print on the rough side so you don't end up with a smear of a photo. I ran my transparency through the printer just like any other piece of paper. I did let it dry for a few minutes. But it was rough, I wanted to complete this layout!

I had been saving some papers and embellies from ADORN it for a Four Wheeling page and this was for sure the one to use it on. Or should I say the Four "Wheelering" page as the title says and that Rick's girlfriend Steph calls it.

I have a few more ideas for the use of the technique. Don't you think a family in transparency would be kewl in the background with the picture of a new baby in the foreground done in sepia would be a nice affect?

Summer Decorations

Hi it's Crafty Tuesday at What's Scrapping and I wanted to post some decorations I created for a friends Party. These canning jars are inexpensive and are the perfect centerpiece for your outdoor gathering. I purchased the jars for only $1.00 at the craft store. The burlap is only 1.99/yard when on sale. I only used 1/4 yard on the jars. I just cut and measured the burlap to fit snuggly around the jar and sewed a quick stitch to create a tube. I simply made the pink roses out of satin material and attached to the burlap with a glue gun. I placed a tiny pearl in the center of each rose. Then I tied each jar with twine. Add water and fresh flowers for the perfect rustic girly centerpiece. I also created a vintage shabby chic banner to match for the honoree. Good morning What's Scrapping?

It's Jessica here with a new wall art.

Here's what you'll need:

1 12x12 canvas

Patterned paper or cardstock (I used 4 sheets from Basic Grey Out of Print)

Tim Holtz Distress Stain (I used Vintage Photo)

Mod Podge (I used glossy finish)

Glue

Sewing Floss (I used WRMK Sew Easy Floss)

1. I cut out 4 3" inch squares from each of my patterned papers (I used the back side for my squares)

2. I used my Tim Holtz Distress stain around all of the edges of the squares

3. I attached each square to the canvas with Mod Podge, and when it was dry, I added my top coat of Mod Podge

4. I cut out 8 2" hearts from each of my patterned papers (I used the main side of the same papers that I used for the squares)

5. I used my Tim Holtz Distress stain around all of the edges of the hearts

6. I attached 1 (coordinating) heart to each square with Mod Podge and when they were dry I added my top coat of Mod Podge

7. I applied a small strip of glue to the hearts (down the middle) and attached them to each of the bottom hearts

8. I then used my floss to do some stitching down the middle of each heart

9. To finish it up, I added 3 light coats of Mod Podge to each of the top hearts

Patriotic Bingo Card Album

I wanted to create an album for a Patriotic Presentation my son performed in at his school. When I saw the Patriotic Bingo cards by Jenni Bowlin, I had to have them. They are 5x7 and are sold individually or in a pack of 5. For this album, I only used 3 cards but could have easily used more. I printed 4x6 and wallet sized photos to use within the album. I bought all of the emebellishments from Michaels Craft Store (some of them were even on clearance!). Red and blue Bazzill papers were the perfect addition to the back of each bingo card. Baby Shower Favor Tags

It seems like it's that time of year when we are all invited to a lot of baby showers, wedding and parties. I recently was asked to create favor tags for a friends upcoming baby shower. I selected a blue damask digital paper that matched her theme and using photoshop I arranged the digital DREAM definition image onto the paper. Then I printed out onto 8 1/2 x 11" paper. I used a punch by Marvy to create the tag. I tied brown crinkle seam binding to each tags. You can write a simple Thank You on the back of each tag before attaching them to your party favors. They can even be tossed onto the tables as decorations and that's it, simple yet decorative! Thank you, Denise.

For this one, I bought some 5x7 green frames at target for $3.00.

I used some brown cardstock for my background. Then I used cream, red, yellow and orange cardstock for my quilling. And that's it easy peasy, except for all the quilling!!!!

Glitter Pom Garland and Cupcake Toppers

This Glitter Pom Garland is made from pink sparkle tulle. I wrapped the tulle around my hand around 6 times. Then I slipped it off my fingers and tied a small knot on the center of the tulle. I I cut each side with scissors and fluff up the sides. Then I used clear twine and a needle to thread each pom. I left about 12 inches on each side to hang the garland with. For the cupcake toppers, the poms are made in the exact same way. Instead of stringing the poms, they are attached to 4 inch candy sticks to create adorable matching cupcake toppers. Good afternoon What's Scrapping!

It's Sunday which means it's time for some new wall art....

Today I'd like to share a painting of Hello Kitty that I did for my daughter.....

Here's what you'll need:

a projector

one sheet of transparency film

fine tip sharpie

a canvas

paint

First, you'll need to find the image that you want to paint and trace the picture onto the transparency film with your sharpie. Then place the transparency onto the projector and line it up to your canvas. Trace the image onto the canvas with a pencil. Last but not least, go to town and get it painted!!!!!

Crafty Tuesday Mini Bird Cage Album

Hello, this Tuesday at What Scrapping is a Mini Bird Cage Album. I bought this bird cage at the dollar store. I decided to decorate it and use it to house my mini bird album. I used my Big Shot and the Bird with Wing die by Sizzix. I used chipboard to create the album. This I used Basic Grey papers I had to cover the album. I used some jewels, and fairy dust to embellish the album. On the bird cage, I used Tim Holtz chain to hang the cage and turqoise frilly trims around the bottom of the cage. I used Jenni Bowlin butterflies on the top of the cage along with a pearl jewel. And thats it, simple and enexpensive to create! Thank you for looking! Simply Create by Denise

For today's wall art, I'd like to share "Bloom". For this piece, I used the papers from EP's Country Drive which is featured in the July Scraptastic Club kit "Sweet Summertime"

and here are some close-ups

For this project you will need the following items:

patterned paper

2 sheets of cardstock

1 wooden shadow box

3 small wooden picket fences

embroidery floss

Tim Holtz Distress stain

alphabet stickers

buttons

paint

glue

dimensional squares

mod podge

So, I started with a 12x12 piece of blue cardstock (bazzill whirlpool). Then I took my piece of white cardstock (bazzill white) and cut a 10 inch rounded square with my Cricut Imagine and adhered it to the blue cardstock. Next, I cut 6 1 inch hearts from each of my patterned papers (I used 11 different patterned papers). I then used my Imaginisce D-Stress tool on all of the edges of the hearts and then I went around all the edges with my Tim Holtz Distress stain (vintage photo). I placed my "flowers" around on the page until I was happy with where they all were, then one by one I glued down all of the bottom layers. I then took the remaining hearts and gave them a little crease down the middle, put a little strip of glue down the middle of the bottom heart and placed the top heart on the glue. When they were all dry, I popped the edges up for some dimension and glued down the button middles. For them stems of my flowers, I hand drew the stitching first, then I made all the wholes and went to town with my needle and floss. Once I was finished with my flowers, I painted my picket fences with a cream color and when that was dry, I attached them to my page with some of my AC foam dimensional square dots. For the "grass" I took some green twine (11 1/2 yard sections) folded each one into fourths, tied them into a knot in the middle, then I cut the looped ends to open them up. Then I took my glue and added a dot on the paper behind the fence and placed my "grass"there to dry. I then added my alphabet stickers in the upper right hand corner and traced them with a colored sharpie.

For the shadow box:

I painted it with a white acrylic paint and when it was dry I sanded it all down so that it was smooth (I don't care for splinters so much). For my final step, I painted a good bit of Mod Podge on the inside of the shadow box and attached my paper!

Altered Frame for Craft Tuesday

Altered Frame

I wanted a bright pink frame for my daughters room so I bought an inexpensive frame to alter. I used bright pink spray paint and let it dry overnight. I made light pink and white ribbon flowers and attached them to the corner, then I attached a small piece of ivory lace between the flowers. I also made a paper flower out of vintage book paper, inked the edges with vintage pink ink and fairy dust glitter, and placed a pearl for the center of the flower. . I used my Big Shot and cut the Eiffel Tower with black glitter paper and attached it to the bottom corner. A fun way to personalize frames for your home. Good afternoon What's Scrapping!

I'm just popping in to share my latest wall art "Love"

This one was done on an 8x10 canvas. I found a patterned paper in my stash that had these flowers on it (don't know which company the paper was from), but I fell in love with the flowers. I fussy cut the flowers, stems and leaves from the paper. The stripes were on the back of the flower paper, so I used that for the bottom of my canvas which I applied using my Mod Podge. The top of the background was some cream colored cardstock from my stash, which was also applied with Mod Podge. Once my background was dry, I attached the flowers, stems and leaves with Mod Podge. For the word Love, I used my April Showers Cricut cartridge, some of the cream colored cardstock and some brown cardstock from my stash. I applied some Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Vintage Photo for the cream layer so that it would stand out from the background.

Good morning What's Scrapping!

Today I'd like to share my new wall art with you that I'm calling "Rainbow Fields"

I used an 8x10 canvas for this one. First I painted the canvas Antique White. I cut 3 strips from each color of 12x12 cardstock and I used my Imaginisce Petal Roller to quill them. For the last step I attached all of the strips to the canvas with Mod Podge and I also sealed them all with Mod Podge.

Birdhouse Art for Craft Tuesday

I bought this wodden birdhouse from my local craft store for $1.00. I covered it with brown stripe and vintage text paper and used mod podge glue to adhere it to the birdhouse. Then I sanded the edges of the papers with a small nail file. After I sanded I began to ink around the paper and edges with pink and light brown ink. I attached handmade ribbon roses to the top right side and a handmade paper rose made from the same vintage text paper. Leaves were cut freehand and inked with mossy ink before adhering to the sides of the flowers. Then I used lace and pink pearls and hot glued them to the other side of the birdhouse. Some pink lace was also attached to the side on the stripe paper. For the embellishments, I used Tim Holtz buttons and pearls. Finally, the birdhouse was attached to an old wooden spool of pink thread and a tiny pink flower was attached to the spool as a final embellishment. Thank you for looking! Simply Create by Denise.

Good morning What's Scrapping!

Today I'd like to share "My Sunshine" with you.

This one is done on an 8x10 canvas.

Here's what you'll need:

2 different patterned papers (I used some Echo Park)

April Showers Cricut cartridge

Alphabet stickers (I used some glitter Thickers)

Teal paint

Black paint

White paint

Black Sharpie

Glue

Mod Podge

First I cut out my sun using my April Showers Cricut cartridge and applied it to the canvas with Mod Podge.

Next, I painted my canvas with my teal paint.

Once that was dry, I outlined my sun with my black paint.

then I went along the inside of the black paint with my white paint

I cut out my clouds and the word sunshine with my April Showers cartridge and applied them to the canvas with Mod Podge

Next I outlined my clouds with my black paint. I then cut out 3 butterflies and attached them to the canvas with Mod Podge. I then applied the word "my" to the canvas with Mod Podge. When that was all dry, I outlined the butterflies, "my", and "sunshine" with a sharpie, and doodled my butterflies trail. Then I applied my final coat of Mod Podge.

Girly Grunge Album

I recently took this Girly Grunge Class by Donna Salazar and had so much fun creating this album.

Some of the products we used were:

Artistic Paper by Donna Salazar
Smooch Spritz

Currogated Cardboard
Paper Flowers
Brads
White Emobossing Powder
Zutter Bind It All
Zutter Distrezz It
Bind It Wires
Chalking Inks
Various Emebellishments, lace and ribbons

After we distressed all the paper, all papers were spritzed in varous colors and bound with the Zutter bind it all. Embellishments were added to each page. I still need to add photos but I am decidng which occassion will be the perfect match! Thank you for looking!

Good afternoon What's Scrapping!

It's Sunday which means wall art......

Today I'd like to share what I'm calling Bloom with you. I was inspired by this.

Here's what you'll need:

1 8x10 canvas

1 sheet of patterned paper (I used my Birthday Wishes kit from Scraptastic Club)

18 1.5" hearts

D-Stress Tool or sand paper

Tim Holtz Distress Stain

3 buttons

Floss

Sewing Needle

First I cut out my background paper to fit the canvas and used my Mod Podge to glue it to the canvas. Next, I used my Cricut to cut out my hearts. I used my D-Stress tool to sand down all of the hearts edges and then I used my Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Vintage Photo on all of the hearts. I used Mod Podge to attach the bottom layers of my flowers (9 of the hearts). Then I applied one coat of Mod Podge over the whole canvas. Once that was dry, I folded all of the remaining hearts in half and applied just a touch of Mod Podge to the crease of each heart and attached them to the bottom hearts. After that was dry, I took my sewing needle and poked about 5-6 holes in each crease of each of the hearts, then I used some black floss to sew them. I attached my buttons to the center of each flower with Mod Podge. Then I drew my stems with a sharpie, and used my needle to make holes in each stem and used my black floss again to sew them. For my last step, I applied some Mod Podge to each of the top "petals and over my Stems.

There you have it........Bloom

Craft Tuesday - Ruffled Paper Wall Hanging

Hello What's Scrapping. It's Crafty Tuesday and I wanted to share this adorable Wall Hanging. My hubby is going to put it in his office.

This wall hanging was made with chipboard 10x7 inches. First I covered the chipboard with the Paris paper. Then I folded a strip of coordinating paper 3x12 inch accordian style. I placed a strip of double sided adhesive down then put the ruffled paper onto the adhesive. For the second strip, I folded the same but before gluing it down, I did a simple stitch with the sewing machine. Then I lgued it down to the paper, right above the first ruffle. Next I used a small piece of lace to decorate the top of the ruffles. I cut out my daughter out of the picture and glued it down in the center. I added buttons and stickers to embellish the hanging. I also glued a butterfly as wings to her picture. Finally, I punched holes on the top of the hanging and thread ribbon through (any length that you desire). Sunday's Wall Art 5/29/11

Good afternoon What's Scrapping!

Today I'd like to share some wall art that I made for my niece.

For this project, I used some canvases that I bought at Michael's, Mod Podge and paper and embellishments from the Sassafras Lass Nerdy Bird line.

For the background of each canvas, I cut out four different patterned papers and attached them to the canvases with Mod Podge, when they were dry, I sanded them all down. Then for the first canvas I did some fussy cutting from one of the papers and attached with Mod Podge, I added a couple of star stickers and the 1, 2, 3 stickers. On the 2nd canvas, I Mod Podged 3 of paper whimsy flowers together, I attached the largest flower to the canvas with Mod Podge and used some of my AC dimensional dots to attach the 3 to the large flower. For the 3rd canvas, I attached the smile embellishment sticker to my canvas with my Mod Podge, and I used some more of my AC dimensional dots to attach the teal cloud sticker. For the last canvas, I did some fussy cutting for the 3 flowers, I attached to cloud sticker to the canvas, and I used some AC dimensional dots to attach the sun. I applied Mod Podge to all four canvases to seal and finish them and when they were all dry, I painted the sides of the canvases with a teal acrylic paint (I did 2 coats of paint on the sides).

Crafty Tuesday Sewing Pattern Mini Book

This book was inspired by mini vintage sewing patterns.

I created this mini book with corrugated cardboard for the front and back covers. They are 3 x 3.5”. The inner pages are slightly smaller and distressed with the Zutter Distrezz-It-All machine. I inked all the pages including the covers with Color Box Chalk ink. I embellished the cover and inside pages with the sewing pattern cards, buttons, vintage looking trims and flowers. It was bound with the zutter bind it all machine and metal wires. This adorable book can be given as a gift or used to hold wallets sized photos. Good morning What's Scrapping!

Today I'd like to share a project on canvas that I've made for a friend of mine, she loves Hawaii so here's what I made for her using my "Surf's Up" kit from Scraptastic Club.

First I applied Mod Podge to the canvas and my background paper. When it was all dry I sanded down all of the edges.

Next I did some fussy cutting from one of the patterned papers to get the waves on the bottom. I applied Mod Podge to the canvas, the trees and the waves and attached them to the canvas. I sanded the edges once it was all dry.

Next, I used my Cricut Mickey Mouse font cartridge to cut out the letters for Hawaii. I used the Cricut Oceans of Words cartridge to cut out the two layers of my sun. I aaplied the Mod Podge to the canvas and then attached the letters and the sun. I added an orange button from my stash to be the center of the sun.

Last, I added some "stitching" to the sun's rays with a red sharpie. I Mod Podged the banner and the surf board to the canvas. When it was all dry, I applied Mod Podge to the whole canvas to seal it. I left the middle part of the canvas open so that she can add some of her favorite photos from Hawaii to the canvas.

Princess Album Home Decoration

I love this accordion style album by Close to My Heart. It is perfect to decorate your mantel or table.
The My Creations Showcase album is chose is 9x9”. It has white papered covered chipboard covers and 6 white pages inside. First I misted it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Gold and Dewberry. Because I will be covering it with paper, it only misted the edges of the album (to use less glimmer mist). I let it dry for a couple hours before continuing. I cut Bazzill paper 8 ½ x 8 ½” in coordinating colors and covered each page of the album. Die Cuts with a view makes a beautiful paper pack Once Upon a Time, in 8x8 inches. This was the inspiration for the album. I used butterflies, jewels and flowers to decorate the pages. The paper is very decorative that so it doesn’t really need much embellishing. It's Sunday, which means it's time for some new wall art.......

"there's no place like home"

For this one I used a frame that I found at Tuesday Morning on clearance. I cut out and inked my PP to fit around the frame, I used Tim Holtz Walnut Distress Ink, to look like my "yellow brick road". For the house and the clouds I used my Cricut "April Showers" and "Hopscotch" cartridges. My alphas are Cosmo Cricket Red Tiny Type and AC Red Felt Thickers.

Craft Tuesday Ni Hao Kai Lan Album

A fun, girly album decorated in a children's Kai Lan theme. I used it to scrap pictures from my daughters 3rd birthday party. You can create one in any theme to match your party with this fun album.

I love this album, Fine and Dandy Tinkled Pink, by My Minds Eye. It has 6 chipboard pages, each one in a different shape and size. The two ring album is also pre printed, which makes is so fast and easy to complete in no time. However, for this particular theme, I covered a couple of the pages with Asian themed paper. All you need to do is add adhesive to the chipboard and lay your paper down, smooth it out for any air bubbles or wrinkles, after it is completely dry, use your craft knife to cut around the edges. I then sanded and inked the edges which helps cover any imperfections. I added lots of character stickers from Ni Hao Kai Lan throughout the album. I also used ribbon trim from prima marketing, bling swirl stickers and Jenni Bowlin journal cards to decorate the pages. Happy Mother's Day!

Good morning What's Scrapping!

I'd like to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all the fabulous moms out there. I hope that you all have a great day planned.....I know that mine will be filled with hanging out with the kids and scrapping!

On to the wall art......I decided to make a wall hanging for my daughter......and here's what I made......

Isn't it cute? OK, so here's how I made it. I picked up the plaque and the letters at Michaels. I picked out some EP papers from Summertime and A Walk in the Park, I traced each letter on the backside of the PP then cut them out........

I pulled out my Mod Podge and attached all of the letters (make sure that you let them dry for at least 15-20 minutes), then I used my exact o knife to trim away the excess. Once that was done I sanded all of the edges of the letters until they were flush and smooth. After all of the letters were sanded, I put a finishing coat of Mod Podge on them. When the Mod Podge was dry, I painted all of the sides of the letters pink (of course you don't have to do pink) and then I did 2 coats of the same pink on the plaque. Once all of the paint was dry, I attached the letters to the plaque with some Mod Podge.

Craft Tuesday at What's Scrapping

This week is Staff Appreciation at our school and every day we recognize and thank our amazing Staff and Teachers for all their hard work! I was inspired to make a THANK YOU card for my son’s First Grade Teacher, Mrs. Wagner, while creating a fun way to give her a special gift card (Starbucks is her favorite)!

I love working with digital elements in photoshop and then adding a little bling or texture to make them pop! This digital kit, School Days, was purchased from http://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/. I started with a blank 5x7 template in photoshop elements. I used papers from the kits and layered them together while using the turquoise scallop element as a divider between the two papers. Then I added a text layer to type the teacher's name. I printed the 5x7 card onto photo paper. I attached it to cream cardstock 10"x7", folded it in half, so my son can write a special thank you inside. The small banner was created from the Mod and Retro Stack by Die Cuts with a View. I cut small triangles and glued them to twine with a glue gun. They were each attached to the card with a pop dot to create dimension.

The large wooden clothes pin is from Creative Imaginations. I simply cut and attached coordinating card stock to the clothes pin. I added fun and bright school days stickers from Me & My Big ideas to the bottom of the clothes pin. I gathered a few ribbon in coordinating colors and tied them to the side of the clothes pin. Finally, I cut yellow cardstock to place behind the gift card (since the gift card was clear on one side). Now that’s it, a unique way to give a simple gift card and to say Thank You for that special Teacher in your life! Good morning What's Scrapping?

I'd like to share a picture frame with you today that I made for my Step-Mom for Mother's Day. I'll be finishing up the other two Mother's Day frames today (one for my Mom and one for my Mother-In-Law).

I picked up a frame at Michaels, I found it with all the wooden projects. And you know I had to pull out the Mod Podge for this one (love that stuff). This frame was super easy to make, and I just love how it turned out. I picked out the PP (from the Scraptastic Club kit "classic girl"), then I traced the out side of the frame and cut it out. Then I placed the frame on the PP upside down and used my exact o knife to cut out the opening in the middle of the frame. I then Mod Podged the paper to the frame. When it was dry (wait 15-20 minutes) I sanded around all of the edges to make it all flush. And then I then painted all of the sides black and when that was dry, I Mod Podged the whole frame again to seal it. For the butterfly, I used a wooden butterfly from my stash, painted the whole thing black first, then I traced the outline of the butterfly with the PP that I wanted to cover it in. I mod Podged the PP to the butterfly, used my exact o knife to cut away some of the excess, then sanded around all the edges, Mod Podged again to seal it, then I added some pearls and gems from my stash.

Art Journal

Why buy an art journal when you can create one with supplies you have at home. Use this keepsake for your art or to journal your thoughts, and because it is decorated with your personal touch, you will want to use it everyday!

For the cover I used chipboard cut into 8” x 5”. I covered it with muslin fabric and attached with fabric glue. The inner pages are cream cardstock cut slightly smaller and distressed with the Zutter Distrezz IT ALL (IT IS A MUST HAVE, my new favorite product)!!! Your paper will look like fabric, it’s too yummy!!

Now for the decorations. The green fabric flower trim is by Prima and placed it along the edges. I used chipboard letters to spell out ART and attached them with a glue gun. The rosette was made with light brown polyester material, and a little bling added in the center. The 3 butterflies are from Jenni Bowlin in various colors. I then added a button to look like a door handle and a metal key at the bottom. I also attached some pom pom fabric trim to the bottom of the journal. Everything is bound with 3 rings! You can make one for every journey you take! I hope you enjoyed this..thank you, Denise.

Happy Easter What's Scrapping!

Today's wall art is not Easter related, it's a gift for my sister-in-law.

I used the "Classic Girl" kit from Scraptastic Club.

I also based this on the grid challenge that I found over at Lily Bee's Blog.

All of the squares were cut at 2x2, some are attached directly to the page and some are attached with dimensional foam tabs. All of the embellishments on the squares are attached with dimensional foam tabs. The alphas are AC chipboard thickers.

Hybrid Card? What is it?

Hybrid cards can be defined in different ways, but I will give you my take. Hybrid cards are cards that contain one or more digital element that you have printed out. Sometimes it could be only the image that is a digital item, like a digital stamp or digital image. You could also design your entire card as a digital item, then printed and add some traditional items. You could just print your own papers (that being your digital element), the possibilities are endless.

You can find hundreds or free digital stamps, papers, elements and images around the web. For my sample I am using a digital kit from SuzyQ Scraps called: A Life Expressed ... {Colorfully}

I added bling to the punch out border, buttons as flower centers, and Glossy accents to the "epoxy" digital element that I used. The Glossy Accents are just a great way to make the elements look real! Some finishing touches with some sheer swirly ribbon and I have one of a kind Hybrid Card!

Alice In Wonderland Mini Books

Vintage Alice in Wonderland is a such a popular theme so I really wanted to recreate these mini books I saw in a craft magazine. These mini books will be the cutest decoration to your themed party, give them as party favors or use as a personal journal or scrapbook.

These mini books were created from a regular cardboard box cut it into four pieces measuring 4.5" x 4". Then I ripped the top layer of cardboard off to expose the corrugated portion. I cut cream cardstock for the inner pages about ¼ inch smaller than the covers, approximately 8 sheets per book. The Alice in Wonderland images were downloaded from the internet and printed onto plain white paper.

I painted the Alice cover with pink and turquoise acrylic paint and the Mad Hatter with french vanilla and turquoise. The covers and inside papers were punched with the Zutter Bind it All machine. Adhere the Alice images to the covers (I used MS craft glue.) Then I tied rose and turquoise crinkle seam binding ribbon to the bottom of each cover. I typed Alice quotes and printed them onto plain white paper and adhered them to Jenni Bowlin journaling tickest. I distressed all images with paint too. The tickets were inserted into the memo pins and then into the cardboard covers. I added a self adhesive jewel to the center of the memo pins. A small decorative pin was also inserted into the ribbons. The books were bound with 3/8” inch black wires. Finally, I attached tiny trinkets bought from the craft store. Sunday's Wall Art - 4/17/11

Good morning What's Scrapping!

It's Sunday which means it's time for some new wall art.

This morning I'd like to share "Home Is Where The Heart Is"

For this one I used the PP from the Lily Bee This and That line (which will be in the upcoming Scraptastic Club May kit "Classic Girl"). I cut out 6 3x3 squares from 3 of the PP. I used my Glue Glider Pro to attach one of each to my background. For the other 3, I used my Imaginisce D-Stress tool around all of the edges, then I used my AC dimensional foam squares to attach them to the squares already on my paper. The teal letters are AC Thickers Jewelry Box Glitter Aqua, the black letters are Cosmo Cricket chipboard licorice, and the red letters are AC Thickers Playroom Cherry felt, all were from my stash. For the butterfly, I used some of my smooch spritz.....first I sprayed the whole butterfly with "Sun Kissed" and when that dried I sprayed it with "Black Velvet", and then one more time with "Sun Kissed". I glued on two buttons that I had left over from the Scraptastic Club April Kit "Enjoy the Little Things", and for the antennas I used a couple of coursage pins, I colored the "white pearl" with a black sharpie.

Whimsical Princess Wand

This delightful princess wand can be used for photo shoots or the perfect way to add whimsy to your little one’s birthday party. It is super fast and easy to create and can be made as party favors for every little princess! First , I cut 2 pieces of double sided cardstock 12 x 2 inches. I accordion folded each piece which created two half circles. Then I glued the ends together to create a full circle. I attached a 2 inch circle to the back to create stability. I used 10 pink gingham ribbons about 2 inches long, folded and glued them to the center of the wand. A scalloped 2 inch circle was then glued to the center over the ribbons. I then attached the “Thank Heaven For Little Girls" metal embellishment (purchased from the local craft store) as the center decoration. I used a bamboo skewer (cutting off the point) and painted it a light pink. After it dried, I wrapped it with ribbon (make sure to add a small dap of hot glue at the top and bottom). Then attach the bamboo skewer to the back of the wand (in between the cardstocks). Finally, I tied pink tulle, cream and pink ribbon, around the skewer and that’s it ! meet: Freehand Scraps

this is elaine! the owner of freehand scraps a great kit club that offers more than just a scrapbook kit! you HAVE to see this months mini album and card kits!!!

angie came up with the fun idea of interviewing elaine to introduce her to our what's scrapping family! so here are the questions i came up with....

1. when did you start scrapping?

I started scrapbooking in 1997. My scrapbooking supplies then consisted of a shape template, scissors, a booklet of paper and some stickers. I used to carry it all to crops in a plastic grocery bag. People setting eyelets seemed way advanced to me back then.

2. what or who most inspires you?

Sketches, blogs, magazines. There are so many talented designers out there.

3. what is your favorite part of a kit?

Having coordinating paper and embellishments preselected allows me to focus on making pages.

4. have you always wanted to have your own scrapbooking business?

I’ve always wanted to own my own business. Ideas that have appealed to me in the past are: a cookie shop, a book store, or a café that serves only breakfast and dessert. Since I’ve become obsessed by scrapbooking, naturally I’ve thought about being a part of the scrapbook industry in some way.

5. You only recently became the owner of Freehand Scraps. How did that come about?

I found out about Freehand Scraps because of a garage sale, of all things. My friend Dede’s husband went to a garage sale in their neighborhood and saw a lot of scrapbook stuff at the sale, which he reported back to Dede. Dede investigated and found out the person holding the garage sale (Heidi) owned a scrapbook kit club. I bought a few of the kits from the club and then found out (again through Dede) that Heidi was taking a new job and moving away. I inquired if she would be interested in selling the club and soon after I became the new owner! Yeh!

6. what type of kits do you make?

I offer 12x12 kits, card kits, and mini album kits. They include the latest product offerings, non-traditional items, and exclusive embellishments.

7. what are your other hobbies?

Cooking, reading, travel, movies

Sunday's Wall Art 4/10/11

Good morning What's Scrapping? fans! It's Sunday, so that means new wall art!!! I would like to share what I'm calling "Butterfly Garden" with you this morning......

So for this project I used the chipboard again (I just love that stuff) and I cut 5 3x3 squares of 2 different PP for the top and bottom squares. (It's hard to tell from the picture, but 2 of the squares from each row I used my AC square foam dimensional dots to pop them up.) For the middle PP I cut 1 strip at 3x12. The paper butterflies are from the CP Sweet Branch die cuts sheet. I also did some stitching for the butterfly trails. For all of the PP in this project I used my CP Sweet Branch papers, and the butterflies with the glitter and gems I picked up at Michaels.

Crafty Tuesday on What's Scrapping

I am so excited to share with you this fun and festive way to decorate any cake by creating a Yarn Pom-Pom Garland. Isn't this too sweet! Here are the simple step by step instructions: 1. You will need yarn (in any color), scissors, and a piece of cardboard. You can create any size cardboard, I used a 2x4. The larger the cardboard the larger your pom-pom will be.

2. Start wrapping your desired yarn around and around the cardboard, lengthwise. The more times you wrap the yarn around the cardboard, the more full and thick your finished pom-pom will be. There is no set number of wraps, however if you're making multiple pom-poms, you should count how many times you wrap the yarn so that all of your pom-poms will be uniform.

3. Once you are done wrapping the yarn around the cardboard, cut the yarn. Then remove the cardboard. Now place a piece of yarn about 6 inches underneath the wrapped yarn directly in the center.

4. Now tie that piece in a knot around the wrapped yarn, this will be the only thing holding together your pom-pom. Using sharp scissors, cut through the loops. Do not worry if it isn’t even, you will be able to shape your pom-pom in the next step.

5. Now that you’ve cut all the loops, fluff up your pom-pom. You may need to trim it to create a perfect circle. Trim off any uneven pieces. You are now finished making your pom-poms!

6. To create the garland, thread the 4 pom-poms together using a large needle and some bakers twine or heavy thread. Make sure to thread through the thickest part of the pom-pom. Leave extra thread or yarn on each side to be able to tie it to the bamboo skewers. Now complete by placing the skewers right into the cake!! I really hope you enjoyed this.
